Sport Fishing

Some of the best sport fishing in the world can be found in and around Mazatlán. Marlin, swordfish, wahoo, dorado, yellowtail all help define the big game off the shores of Mazatlán.

Over 600 species in all swim these waters, and you'll find a challenge with marlin that run half a ton, exhausting you with rod stock locked in, back bent, 80-pound test held taught as the great fish tail walks the deep blue trying to throw the hook and you. Over 125 fishing vessels are waiting at Mazatlán's marinas to take you to the Pacific, where 12,000 marlin and swordfish are caught every year, with most released to fight another day. Choose from a variety of fishing trips departing everyday. Sport fishing is more than an adventure. It's a test. And only the hardiest pass.

Although almost impossible to believe, we know some guests may grow tired of soaking up the sun on our pristine beaches, relaxing at the spa or enjoying the pool. Anglers Inn International of Mazatlan, our exclusive sportsmen's outfitter, can plan your adventures.

Under the leadership of Billy Chapman, Jr., the only outfitter ever inducted into the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame for his dedication to serving clients, Anglers Inn International built a solid reputation for running first-class fishing lodges on Lake El Salto and Lake Mateos. Anglers Inn International can send a van to pick you up at the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay for the 90-minute drive north on a four-lane highway to Lake El Salto. Anglers can reach Lake Mateos in about three hours. Each lake can produce largemouth bass topping 10 pounds.

Here at Mazatlan, Anglers Inn International can arrange saltwater fishing trips for roosterfish, corvina, grouper, snapper and other species caught almost within sight of the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay. Need a bigger challenge? Consider battling a 500-pound blue marlin or majestic sailfish just 18 to 25 miles out in the Sea of Cortez. Don't want to go in a boat? Try fishing the surf with all necessary tackle provided by Anglers Inn International.

For the hunter, Anglers Inn International can arrange duck and dove hunting trips at many exclusive properties with an hour of the resort. The Pacific Coast of Mexico typically holds good numbers of pintails, wigeons, three species of teal, redheads, canvasbacks, black-bellied or fulvous tree ducks and other waterfowl.

Anglers Inn International can also arrange fishing expeditions to the Amazon where Chapman pioneered peacock bass fishing. For more information, see www.anglersinn.com or call 800-GOTA-FISH.
